Head of Business Development & Speaking

You’ll be on the Marketing team reporting directly to our Marketing Director, Ashton Searcy.

Your mission (should you choose to accept it): grow revenue at Self Publishing School through speaking, partnerships and affiliates…developing this into a $4M/year customer acquisition channel. 

If you’re a fit for this role, you’re likely (excelling) in one of these 3 roles right now: 

  1. Running business development / partnerships at a company
  2. Working at a non-profit in a fundraising / development role – creating B2B partnerships that increase donations
  3. An account manager / account executive at a PR agency

POSITION SUMMARY

Your mission is to grow revenue at Self Publishing School through speaking, partnerships and affiliates…developing this into a $4M/year customer acquisition channel.

You’ll focus on 3 main areas for revenue growth:

  1. Speaking gigs for Chandler and the SPS team (virtual & in person)
  2. Partnerships (sponsoring our event, strategic partnerships etc)
  3. PR / publicity for SPS


In this role, you’ll research, connect with, and close partnerships, publicity, and speaking gigs.

This will be done by generating new qualified opportunities (appointments) from cold research (with no association to Chandler/SPS), champions (ones who have an association with Chandler/SPS), and past stages and affiliates (opportunities in which Chandler has already spoken at).

When done right, this person will grow revenue quickly through high quality, win-win strategic partnerships and speaking gigs.


You MUST be:

  • A strategic problem solver who knows how to find the win-win
  • A “deal maker” who lives for negotiating / making deals
  • Not afraid to pick up the phone and get in touch with people you don’t know
  • Methodical in your approach and one of the most organized people you know
  • Ready to learn, be challenged, and grow a ton
  • Scrappy, and eager to get your hands dirty…working in the trenches


NOTE: This position full-time and virtual. Meaning you can work from anywhere. The team here at SPS is located around the world, with the majority of us in North America. Preference for this position is someone working in the US or Canada.

Qualifications:

At Self Publishing School, we value work ethic, coachability, and past results you’ve delivered significantly more than your degree (or lack thereof), GPA, etc.

Have you delivered results in a similar role in the past? If so, that’s what we’re looking for.

Required:

  • You’ve run Business Development / Partnerships for a company…generating at least $1M/year for the company (preferably $2-$5M+)
  • More than 3 years of Business Development or B2B sales experience
  • Ability to move partnerships / deals through the pipeline while clearly organizing all important deal points
  • A strategic problem solver who knows how to find the win-win
  • A deal maker who lives for negotiating / making deals and isn’t afraid to pick up the phone


Preferred:

  • Experience running Business Development / Partnerships for a company…generating at least $5M-$10M/year for the company
  • More than 5 years of Business Development / Partnership Experience


The Pay / Benefits:

Yearly compensation of $50,000-$100,000; depending on qualification and experience.

Also includes the following benefits:
